Juventus CEO Giuseppe Marotta said the sale of Paul Pogba amongst his greatest achievements in football.

In an open interview with Il Giornale, Marotta spoke about his career and recent transfers, before looking back over his entire career.

Asked to name his three greatest transfer deals, he couldn’t separate his top three.

Cagliari Calcio v Juventus FC - Serie A

“The three (best) hits? Selling Casiraghi to Juventus (from Monza): a sign of fate,” said the 60-year-old, who spent for seasons as Monza’s general manager.

“Cassano joining Sampdoria from Real Madrid: it was pure emotion because it was about recovering a great talent.

“And the Pogba deal to Manchester United: the (greatest) professional achievement.”

Having signed Pogba from Manchester United for free when the midfielder was only 19, Juventus sold him back to the Premier League giants in the summer of 2016.

By then, the Frenchman had spent four years in Italy and become one of the most highly-coveted players in the world. So coveted, in fact, Juventus sold him for a then-world record £89m fee. An unbelievable return on investment. Buy for nothing sold back to the same club for £89 million and still retained their Serie A title and reached Champions League final the following season. What a business! no wonder Marotta is so proud.
